Job Title: Veterinary Technician Brewer Veterinary Clinic is an AAHA-accredited, high-volume, small animal practice in Central Maine. Our dedicated staff consists of a team of receptionists, veterinary assistants, licensed veterinary technicians, and veterinarians. We all work together to offer compassionate and superior care to our clients and their companions! We have a state-of-the-art facility, digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, IDEXX diagnostic equipment, as well as a well-stocked surgical suite, dental suite, and pharmacy!
We are currently seeking a motivated and dependable
Veterinary Technician to join our team! As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting our veterinarians and ensure the well-being of the animals under our care. The ideal candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, an ability to multitask, be a team player, perform efficiently during stressful situations and be self-motivated. Candidates must have respect and compassion for people and animals.
Veterinary Technology license is preferred but not required, however, previous experience is required. Full-time or part-time option available.
WHAT YOU'LL DO - Provide compassionate care to patients and clients.
- Keep accurate medical records in accordance with hospital policy, including in-depth knowledge of medical terminology and record keeping.
- Prepare and maintain the exam rooms and treatment areas.
- Stock clinic treatment area, exam rooms, and surgical suite.
- Perform physical assessments and records observations, including triaging and problem solving to achieve the best possible outcomes.
- Safe, low stress, and compassionate handling and restraint.
- Prepare estimates for procedures and discuss financial commitments with clients.
- Venipuncture and IV catheter placement.
- Pharmacy skills, including protocols for filling in-house.
- Radiography and digital imaging.
- Monitor vitals.
- Sample collection and processing for in-house and reference labs.
- Build initial rapport and long-term relationships with both pets and clients, successfully communicate plans and estimates to owners.
- Assist the Veterinarian in medical, surgical and dental procedures; prepare patients for surgery; administer anesthesia; monitor patients during surgery and recovery; administer fluids and medications.
- Communicate within the team, proactively advocating for patient needs.
- Operate practice management software and related medical monitoring equipment.
- Various housekeeping duties (laundry, dishes, cleaning kennels, etc.).

REQUIREMENTS - High school diploma or equivalent
- Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT) or License (LVT) is highly desirable; equivalent training and experience may substitute.
- Experienced in surgical and dental procedures.
- Truly enjoys working with animals and being able to deal with them even when they are stressed, ill or in pain. Dedication to safety for all parties involved.
- Must have a positive attitude and be a team player.
- Strong work ethic and track record of being reliable.
- Willingness to learn new skills and techniques.
